An excerpt from Part 3: The Power of Your Choice
Finding God’s will for our life is definitely tough, but actually submitting to it when we find it can be equally difficult. I believe that the most complicated task for God in accomplishing His will on the earth is convincing us to choose His way over our own. This in no way limits His power or ability to fulfill His will, but it does allow for the fact that we have been given certain responsibilities by God to join with Him in the fulfillment of His plans. I have come to recognize that I can be the biggest hindrance to the fulfillment of God’s purposes in my own life—not the devil, not my circumstance, and not the human leadership that has been placed over me. My natural impulse is to do what I want to do when I want to do it. My selfish desire seems so much louder than His whisper. Plus, He almost always asks me to do something that I am not ready to do or don’t have time to do. In short, His whisper interrupts my plans. However, I have learned that there is a miracle waiting for me on the other side of obedience whenever I surrender to His voice.
Of course, the results when I surrender my will to God are always more than sweet; they are divine. However, getting to that point usually comes with quite a struggle. Obeying the whisper of God always involves a risk and reward and creates a squeeze in my soul. I know that God has something powerful in mind but it comes with a change in direction that typically requires something of me that I am not ready to give. My surrender to God only comes after the squeezing intensifies and I finally give up and give in. Trust and obedience takes me right into the land of miracles. On the other hand, my disobedience is painful and costly.
There have been no exceptions.
Finding God’s will is possible, but experiencing the SWEET SURRENDER soon follows. Make sure to give up and give in to the gentle whispers of God today. The people around your life will be eternally grateful!
